NexGen is looking to add a Preconstruction Manager to help their growing team in the Southeast Region!

NexGen Contracting is seeking a seasoned and strategic Manager of Preconstruction with extensive experience in concrete estimating and preconstruction management. This senior role is responsible for overseeing the preconstruction phase of projects, managing the estimating team, and ensuring accurate and competitive bid proposals. The Manager of Preconstruction will work closely with senior leadership to align preconstruction activities with overall business goals.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in concrete estimating and preconstruction management.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (Procore, Bluebeam, CMiC, Sage Estimating, Planswift).
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and financial responsibility.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Oversee the entire preconstruction process, from initial concept through project turnover.
  • Lead and manage the estimating team, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Develop and implement strategies for competitive bidding and cost management.
  • Collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of project objectives.
  • Review and analyze RFPs, perform quantity take-offs, and develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the estimating team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and report on preconstruction metrics and KPIs to senior leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.
