NexGen is looking to add a Batch Plant Program Manager to join their Concrete Department!

The Batch Plant Program Manager plays a strategic leadership role within NexGen’s Concrete Division, responsible for overseeing the planning, operation, and optimization of portable and batch plants across multiple projects. This role ensures concrete production meets the highest standards of safety, quality, efficiency, and compliance while supporting NexGen’s broader operational and business development goals.

 

In addition to operational oversight, this position carries a business development component, including cultivating client relationships, supporting proposal efforts, and representing NexGen within industry associations. The Batch Plant Program Manager will be expected to actively participate in industry trade organizations to expand NexGen’s presence, build partnerships, and stay ahead of emerging trends.

 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in concrete batch plant operations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program graduates strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete production, batching systems, mix design, and quality standards (ACI, ASTM, DOT).
  • Proficiency with batching software, plant automation systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong business development skills with experience supporting proposals and cultivating client relationships.
  • Active involvement in industry trade organizations (e.g., NRMCA, ACI, local concrete associations) preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%) to support projects and business development efforts nationwide.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

 

  • Develop and oversee NexGen’s batch plant program, establishing operational standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Lead planning and mobilization of batch plants for projects nationwide, ensuring cost-effective and efficient setup.
  • Manage supplier relationships for raw materials and equipment, negotiating pricing and ensuring reliable supply.
  • Implement production planning systems to optimize plant efficiency and meet project schedules.
  • Ensure batch plants operate in compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Monitor plant performance through KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement in production, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and quality control teams to align plant output with project needs.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and provide technical expertise to plant operators and field teams.
  • Oversee adherence to ASTM, ACI, DOT, and project-specific standards for concrete production.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure mix designs, materials, and processes consistently meet specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations governing plant operations.
  • Partner with NexGen leadership and project teams to support pursuit efforts and proposals for self-perform concrete work.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships through plant tours, presentations, and technical expertise.
  • Identify opportunities to expand NexGen’s batch plant services across new projects and markets.
  • Represent NexGen at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
  • Lead and mentor plant operators and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver training for plant personnel to ensure high standards of technical and safety performance.
  • Work with leadership to assess staffing needs and support workforce development initiatives.
  • Manage budgets for batch plant operations, ensuring cost control and profitability.
  • Track and report on production metrics, material usage, and cost performance.
  • Support divisional leadership in strategic planning and forecasting related to concrete production capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities over the Batch Plant Superintendent role.
