Overview

NexGen is looking for a Concrete- Business Unit Leader to join their growing team! This position is travel based.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university and 10 years of experience in construction, or 14 years of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, CMIC is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel and oversee projects on a nationwide footprint.
  • Effective planning and resource management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to monitor construction schedules and identify potential issues.
  • Proactive in promoting and ensuring workplace safety.

 

  • Ability to lead, grow, and steward a business unit in a holistic manner.
  • Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Lead and motivate staff to advance employee engagement and develop a high performing team.
  • Make high-quality decisions to advance the business unit.
  • Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions and improvements.
  • Ensure project safety compliance.
  • Build out of project estimates and job cost.
  • Ability to lead project sequencing and scheduling.
  • Track project progress and analyze production.
  • Engage in project cost reporting.
  • Handle invoice coding and approval.
  • Oversee material and equipment procurement.
  • Manage change order requests and tracking.
  • Coordinate with General Contractors, Customers, and Owners.
  • Oversee reporting requirements, including field time and productivity, materials, safety, and other relevant aspects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear.  They are regularly required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Must frequently lift and or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs.  Specific vision abilities include accurate near and distant vision.

 

Frequently in a normal office environment where noise level is moderate, and temperature/humidity is controlled.  Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.  May be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibrations.  Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud.   Overtime will be required.  Travel will be required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities, including the build-out of office and field staff.
